Biography
Dr Johan Ng’s research investigates motivational processes in exercise and sport and their links to physical and psychological health. He also specialises in measurement and analytics of movement behaviours, including a focus on AI-assisted assessment (e.g., fundamental movement skills in childhood) and wearable-based sleep and activity detection.
Dr Ng is actively serving the academic and local community. Currently, he is a Senior Associate Editor of the Journal of Physical Activity in Health, and an Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. He was also a recipient of the “JSEP Excellence in Reviewing Award”, a reward given to active reviewers to acknowledge their review work for the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology. Dr Ng is also a Expert Panel member for the InspiringHK Dream Factory, a project dedicated to provide grassroot basketball training to local kindergarten and primary school students.
