Dr. Huang Xianhan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the Education University of Hong Kong. She earned her PhD in 2011 from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she began her academic career as a lecturer. In 2014, Dr. Huang joined the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where she served as a lecturer and later as an assistant professor. At HKU, she showcased her leadership and expertise by founding and coordinating the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. In 2023, she joined the Education University of Hong Kong as an associate professor, bringing with her extensive experience and a steadfast commitment to advancing teacher education.
Dr. Huang's research focuses on integrating cross-disciplinary theories to investigate and enhance teacher agency in teaching and learning. Her recent work is dedicated to exploring and developing innovative training programs aimed at equipping teachers with essential AI competencies, addressing emerging challenges in education with a forward-looking approach.
Accepting PhD & EdD Students
I welcome applications from PhD (self-financed and Fellowship Scheme) and EdD students (in both English and Chinese). Priority will be given to research on the following topics: 1. Teachers' teaching and learning with AI; 2. Teacher agency; 3. Fostering student creativity with AI in language education. Additionally, I am open to supervising other areas related to teacher professional development.
