Dr. Paulina Wong graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in vocal performance and choral conducting. She was awarded the degrees of Master in Music and Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. In the Academy, she had appeared in solo recitals, concerts and opera productions. She had been notably successful in various choral conducting seminars and master classes held at the Academy. Before graduation, she was invited by the Dean of Music to work with choirs in The Academy Junior School, to perform Britten’s Missa Brevis, Noye’s Flude and Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Dr. Wong was music tutor in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, music panel in school, founding Director of The Hong Kong Treble Choirs’ Association, Commissioner of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) Commission for Music in Schools and Teacher Education (MISTEC) and served as the Committee Member of the Education Bureau Curriculum Development Council Committee on Arts Education. Dr. Wong currently is the Associate Director of School Partnership and Field Experience, Assistant Professor of Teaching of Cultural and Creative Arts Department in The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and artistic director of the EdUHK Chorus. In the community, Dr. Wong is the Artistic Director of the Hong Kong Educators’ Singers, Director and Conductor of Hong Kong Chinese Oratorio Society, founding Vice President and Director of the Hong Kong Association for Music Educators and Hong Kong Arts Development Council Examiner. Dr. Wong serves as adjudicator of Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and Hong Kong International Vocal Open Competition. She also works as the council member of local schools, supervisor and council chair of kindergartens.
Apart from her teaching, Dr. Wong frequently presents professional papers in international music education conferences across local region and overseas. In 2016 a book chapter was published by GIA Publiscation with the title "Creative Musicking: An approach to collaborative choral composition". An innovative book chapter was published by Springer in 2013 with "Sun Tzu the Art of War for Choral Leadership" as the title. In previous years, she has been serving the community with public engagement, outreach and knowledge exchange activities including workshops and seminars for international conferences, professional organizations, universities, local schools and churches. Dr. Wong is the chief investigator of the knowlege transfer project from 2006-2020 Choral Partnership School & Community Project. Dr. Wong has profound experience in organizing international choral events and conferences, including 2009 HKIEd Choral Jazz Festivals, 2010 School Choral Jazz Festival, 2011 International Choral Jazz & Mass Participatory Musicking Festival, 2012 Jazz Music Education Festival, 2016 New Choral Setting of Tang Poems Gala Concert.
Dr. Wong was also the chief author of the Huang Tzu Literature Collection published by Longman Hong Kong Education in 2004. Dr. Wong was funded by the University Grants Committee to develop an interactive CD-ROM “The Application of Interactive Kinesthetic Movement and Gestures for Choral Teaching and Learning” for promoting innovation in choral training in 2005. Dr. Wong was the chief director and conductor of the “Huang Tzu’s Song Collection-Searching for Plum Blossoms in the Snow” CD, published by Hugo in 2011, it was awarded “The Best Choir Recording Award” by Guangzhou City Radio. Dr. Wong also worked as the project leader and music director of the New Choral Settings of Tang Poems Project and "New Choral Settings of Tang Poems" CD, published by Hugo in 2016. The EdUHK Chorus was invited to perform set of original choral literature composed by renowned Chinese and Hong Kong composers at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in International Society for Music Education (ISME) 32nd ISME World Conference, Glasgow 2016.
