Brief Profile:

Dr. MUNG received the B.Sc. (with first-class honour) in Applied Physics from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in 2006. He received the M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the same university, in 2009 and 2012, respectively.

He has more than 15 years of industrial experience in operations, design and manufacturing of wireless electronic products from semiconductors to consumer products. He was the Test and Operations Director in Sana Semiconductors Ltd., which is a start-up company in 2010. He built up the team and setup a first automated chipset testing system (qualified by Samsung Mobile Division) in Hong Kong with complete automated production flow in 2016. Apart from this, he is also a Consultant in Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. for consumer products (A wireless electronic manufacturing company with 20,000 workers in China).


As well as this industrial experience, he is currently Research Assistant Professor (Research and Development Office, The Education University of Hong Kong, EdUHK) and Adjunct Associate Professor (Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), the University of Hong Kong, HKU and Department of Electronic and Information Engineering (EIE), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, PolyU). He was visiting lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2016.

He is the co-founder and company representative in "PolyU - Innovation Technology (HK) Audio and Speech Signal Processing Joint Laboratory". He has published and invented more than 100 journals, conference papers, China/US patents related to wireless circuit/speech/audio technologies. He has raised around HKD 20M  of funding in PolyU and company since 2019.

He is also an associate editor of IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine (CEM) and a member of reviewing board in The MTT-Sat Challenge. He serves as reviewer for several IEEE journals and committee member in Audio/Video Systems and Signal Processing (AVS) / Smartphone and Mobile Device Technologies (MDT) Technical Committees in the IEEE Consumer Technology Society (CTSoc) and Instrument Science and Technology Group Committee in Institute of Physics (IOP).


He is Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInsP), Fellow of the Institute of Science and Technology (FIScT ), Senior Member of IEEE (SrMIEEE).

He is Chartered Engineer (CEng, Engineering Council,UK) and Chartered Scientist (CSci, Science Council, UK).
