Personal profile

Dr. Davy Ng is currently an Assistant Professor at the Education University of Hong Kong. He has been an IT Panel Head at a local secondary school in Hong Kong and a Visiting Scholar at the Division of Integrative Systems and Design, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He holds PhD Education and Technology from the University of Hong Kong (HKU), MEd Educational Psychology, BSc Computer Science, and Postgraduate qualification in ICT Education from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.


His research interests lie in the areas of (Generative) AI literacy, human-AI interaction, metaverse, STEAM education, and technology-enhanced pedagogic innovation. He has published around 50 articles, many in Q1 journals, and authored a book on AI literacy that obtained the China New Development Award from Springer Nature in 2023. He focuses on educational psychology and technology, and collaborates with governments, schools and enterprises/organisations to support all kinds of learners (e.g., K-16, young olds) in Hong Kong and beyond to learn effective, happily and responsibly. His work is informed by recent research on using ChatGPT in self-regulated learning, mobile computational thinking, and conceptualising AI literacy and Metaverse. He was a recipient of Research Postgraduate Student Publication Award at HKU, Social Innovation Leadership Award at CUHK, and Outstanding Paper Award in the International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum at the Education University of Hong Kong. He has been named in the 2024 Stanford's List of World's Top 2% Scientists in Education.


Davy has been actively involved in serving the community, serving as Principal Investigator on various projects, including the Jockey Club Youth Project on digital music education, Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund on aviation education, and Competitive Research Funding Scheme on AI literacy education for older adults, and Faculty Development Fund on digital literacy initiatives for supporting migrants. He has served as an associate editor of Artificial Intelligence in Education, an editor of Discover Education, and committee member of Joint ACM/IEEE Conference on Digital Libraries. He has held leadership and volunteering positions, such as Vice-chairman of the A22 Education-for-all Foundation, co-opted Council Member of the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education, and Committee Member of Curriculum Development Council on Technology Education, HK FlippEducators Association, HK Tertiary Putonghua Recitation Society, and HK Air Cadet Corps (Vocational Qualification Unit and CUHK Unit).
