Brief Introduction:
Dr. KONG Suet-yee, Suria is an experienced educator focusing on teacher professional development in higher education, governmental institutions, and frontline school settings. Currently severing at the Education University of Hong Kong, she has taken on various administrative roles, including Associate Co-Director of the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation, Head of the Liaison and Coordination Section in the Office of the President, Associate Director of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Honorary Special Advisor of the Centre for Religious and Spirituality Education, and Senior Lecturer and the Programme Leader for the Master of Arts in Digital Learning and Technology in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Concurrently, Dr. KONG holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Previously, as a Senior School Development Officer in the Education Bureau, Dr. KONG was instrumental in developing school-based curricula, particularly in General Studies and Science Education for primary education. Her expertise spans various areas, including Territory Education with a focus on STEAM Education, Health Education and Promotion, Science Inquiry, Environmental Education, Interdisciplinary Curricular Approaches, Self-Directed Learning, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy. Dr. KONG has made significant contributions to teacher professional development through her active involvement in numerous initiatives. She has been actively engaged in teaching the annual Training Course for the new PSMCD organised by the Kindergarten and Primary Section of the Education Bureau. In addition, she has provided training to General Studies panel heads through diverse learning communities and conducted workshops on STEAM education and science inquiry for schools.
Dr. KONG has been invited as a speaker, competition adjudicator, and academic consultant to various Science and Technology educational events. Furthermore, she has facilitated frontline teachers in disseminating exemplary curricular initiatives by presenting at different international education conferences. Her contributions also extend to academic channels, including the authorship of academic book chapters, journal papers, participation in international conference round-table meetings, writing online articles, and authoring Science textbooks. Throughout her extensive career, Dr. KONG has played a pivotal role in nurturing a cadre of curriculum leaders for Hong Kong. Her unwavering dedication to advancing teacher professional development and curriculum enhancement has had a lasting impact on the education landscape.
