Dr. Sydney Pun graduated from the Doctorate of Education (EdD) programme at the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, UK, with his doctoral dissertation on the mediatisation and mediation of Hong Kong's 334 education policy.  He obtained a distinction with his Master of Science degree in Multimedia and Entertainment Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, after finishing his BA (Hons) degree in History of Art and Computing from the University of Kent, UK.

Sydney has been working in various fields and industries related to art, design, education and training.  Before joining the institute, he had been working as Head of Centre of Art & Design, Hong Kong College of Technology.  Sydney had also been one of the most experienced online content production managers in the region.  He was Vice President, Production & Engineering of i100, a HKSE-listed company.  Prior to joining i100, Sydney was Deputy General Manager and Production Director for Hong Kong at sina.com, the world's leading Chinese-language Internet destination site.  Before sina.com, he co-founded AOL Hong Kong and hongkong.com, where he was Managing Editor.

Before the arrival of the Internet age, Sydney worked at Leo Burnett Hong Kong and Bozell advertising firm.  He was an installation and multimedia artist participating in exhibitions such as City Vibranceand Turn of a Decade presented respectively by the Hong Kong Museum of Arts and Hong Kong Arts Centre.  He had also been Contributing Visual Arts Editor to a number of print publications, including Hong Kong Economic Journal and Crossover City Magazine.  Later on, he launched a number of offline and online ventures for PC home Hong Kong, where he used the traditional media to experiment with his interactive and multimedia ideas.

Sydney co-founded Designs You Don’t Know What To Do With Association and endeavors to put some of the students’ projects into practical usage.  He is now acting as the consultant advisor of a students’ project working with the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care for secondary school students by adopting the facebook platform and applications.  He is currently also mentoring an Upcycling workshop for emerging designers and indigenous artisans to work on various incubation ideas of social enterprise innovation and sustainable design.
