Dr Paul Campbell is an experienced senior educational leader and educator having been a Vice Principal, Senior Leader and Primary Teacher in Scotland, Australia, Spain and Hong Kong prior to moving into academia. Paul has always been driven by a belief in the power of education and public services more broadly to transform lives and communities. His research interests focus on the intersection of research engagement, policy making, and leadership and how this influences educational change. Having originally studied for a B.Ed. in Primary Education, and subsequently an M.Ed. in Education Studies at the University of Strathclyde, then an Ed.D. at the University of Glasgow, Paul is also interested in the varied and nuanced complexities of education systems across the globe. This is what brought him to Hong Kong, and continues to drive his professional and research work internationally.
Paul is widely engaged in the broader education community. He is an elected board member and director of the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) and also serves as a Co-coordinator of their Educational Leadership Network, chair of their Communication and Knowledge Sharing Standing Committee, as well as overseeing ICSEI networks. He is also an Honorary International Affiliate of the Centre for International Research into Leadership in Education (CIRLE). Paul also sits on the editorial board of the School Leadership and Management (SLAM) and Management in Education (MiE) journals, and the Publications Committee of the British Educational Research Association (BERA). He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (the RSA), and a member of the WISE ALL-IN network.
