Dr. Ruth Wong is an assistant professor at the Department of English Language Education. She joined the university in 2005 and has published research articles in international journals as well as several textbooks and teaching resources for schools in Hong Kong.
Research interests
External Appointments
I serve extensively in external academic and professional roles, including examiner and advisor positions across universities and government bodies. I contribute to EDB committees, SCOLAR vetting panels, and language qualification assessments, ensuring standards in teacher education and language policy. I act as external examiner, reviewer, and consultant for higher education programmes, accreditation exercises, and textbooks. Additionally, I engage with NGOs and international organisations, providing expertise in English language education, curriculum development, and assessment, supporting regional and global educational advancement.

Teaching Interests
My teaching centres on English language education, teacher professional development, and pedagogical innovation. I emphasise motivating learners, addressing learner diversity, and integrating positive psychology into ESL classrooms. I design interactive, reflective learning experiences, support practicum development, and teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in multilingual, multicultural contexts.
