Chinese Name : 馬麗明

Maria Manzon is Assistant Professor of the Department of International Education and Lifelong Learning at The Education University of Hong Kong. She researches on comparative education from a sociology of knowledge perspective, and on parent engagement in Asian contexts.

She was Associate Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Education (Routledge) and is Editor of CIEclopedia, an online who's who in comparative and international education. She was Chair of the Admissions and New Societies Standing Committee of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies and is a Board member of the Asian and Philippine comparative education societies. She is an Associate Member of the Comparative Education Research Centre (CERC), The University of Hong Kong.

Previously, she worked at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University in Singapore as research scientist and research convenor of NIE's international and comparative studies group. She also taught at The University of Hong Kong. Her community outreach in Hong Kong includes serving in a youth centre of the East Asian Educational Association and as a former school manager of Tak Oi Secondary School.

Her publications in comparative education serve as reference texts internationally. Her 2011 volume entitled Comparative Education: The Construction of a Field (Springer) has been acclaimed for its comprehensive approach and path-breaking conceptualisation.
