Before joining the Institute (now The Education University of Hong Kong), Angel has taught in the Hong Kong Baptist University and in Macau. Her research interest in cross-cultural study of achievement motivation which formed the focus of her doctoral thesis was later extended to include other themes related to teacher education and adolescent/child development such as epistemological beliefs, conceptions of teaching and learning, teaching styles, cyber bullying, and children’s perception of their peers. These topics have been examined in an institute-level TDG Project “Students’ beliefs about teaching and learning and knowledge acquisition” in which she is one of the principal investigators and in two other projects supported by the Departmental Small Scale Research Fund. Related papers have been presented in international conferences and published in books and journals. She also reviews manuscripts for journals and serves in school boards and organizations that promote the development of children and youths.
