Yim Kim-ping obtained her B.A. (Fine Arts) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; M.F.A. (Design & Photography) and M.A. (Film Studies) at the University of Iowa; PGDE (Visual Arts) at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). She studied her Ph.D. in Art Education at The Ohio State University (OSU), and her dissertation entitled “Humanitarian Visual Culture Curriculum: An Action Research Study” was nominated for the OSU’s Council of Graduate Schools Distinguished Dissertation Award in Humanities/Fine Arts in 2013. This research study is one of the first to create a humanitarian space in/through art education by addressing the ethics of looking in relation to the visuality of war, violence and peace, with a particular focus on war photography. She is a lecturer at EdUHK, serving as Honours Project Convener for final year students, teaching courses include "Contextual Studies of Art," "Education in Art," "Child Development: Aesthetics and Creative Growth" and "Visual Arts for Special Needs: Issues, Planning and Strategies."She obtained OSU’s Mary Lou Kuhn Scholarship in 2009 and 2011. She served as a committee member of UNESCO Arts in Education Observatory for Research in Local Cultures and Creativity in Education (RLCCE) (2013-2014), a honorary consultantfor the Hong Kong Association of Art Therapists (HKAAT) (2013-2014; 2016-2017), a volunteer-teacher for a Certificated Visual Arts Volunteer Tutor Training Course at H.K.S.K.H. Wong Tai Sin District Elderly Community Centre (2019), theVisual Arts external reviewer for G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College (2020),a panel judge for Hong Kong Flower Show's Student Drawing Competition (2017, 2018, 2019) and for Education Bureau's Exhibition of Student Visual Arts Work (2021). She is a member of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and Hong Kong Society for Education in Art (HKSEA). Currently, she is providing advisory service for the Education Bureau on the "Adaptation of Learning Objectives for the Visual Arts Curriculum (P1-S3) for Students with Intellectual Disabilities."

嚴劍萍於香港中文大學取得學士學位(藝術);美國愛荷華大學碩士學位(設計與攝影)和(電影研究);香港教育大學教育文憑(視覺藝術)。她於美國俄亥俄州立大學取得藝術教育博士學位,論文《一個面向人道主義的視覺文化課程行動研究》被提名為研究生院理事會傑出人文藝術論文獎。此研究是首次通過藝術教育來探討戰爭與和平的視覺表述,當中牽涉觀看戰爭攝影的倫理 - 盼從中開拓一個帶有關懷並面向世界的教育空間。她現職香港教育大學,擔任畢業論文統籌,任教課程包括 :“藝術的情境研究”、“藝術教育” 、 “兒童發展:審美和創造力”和 “照顧特殊需要的視覺藝術教育:議題、計劃和策略”等。她獲俄亥俄州立大學頒發的Mary Lou Kuhn獎學金(2009,2011);曾擔任聯合國教科文組織本土文化及創意教育研究觀測所委員(2013-2014)、香港藝術治療師協會榮譽顧問(2013-2014; 2016-2017)、黃大仙區長者社區中心舉辦的“視覺藝術義務導師證書培訓課程必修科”義務講師(2019)、優才(楊殷有娣)書院視藝科校外評審(2020)、香港花卉展覽學生繪畫比賽評審成員(2017, 2018, 2019)、教育局學生視覺藝術作品展評審成員(2021);也是美國國家美術教育協會和香港藝術教育協會會員。目前,她為教育局提供“發展為智障學生而調適的視覺藝術科課程(小一至中三)”的諮詢服務。
