Personal profile

Dr Jiafang LU is Associate Professor in the Department of Education Policy and Leadership, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). She is also Acting Co-Director of the Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change, a university-level strategic research and development centre established in 2010 at EdUHK.

She received her doctoral degree in Applied Psychology from Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is committed to applying organizational psychology and behavioral sciences into studying leadership development, school leadership teams, and innovation in educational settings. She shares her interest with similar enthusiasm for translating knowledge in these areas into leadership development and school improvement in Hong Kong and beyond.

Dr Lu's expertise has provided constructive insights and guidance for fostering effective teamwork and cultivating innovative practices within educational institutions. Since 2019, she has been directing, co-coordinating or coordinating the Aspiring Principals programme authorised by the Education Bureau at The Education University of Hong Kong. During 2020 and 2025, she contributes to the local implementation of the new policy on Enhanced Training Requirements for Promotion in Hong Kong by co-coordinating related training programmes or engaging in direct training for 7000+ teacher leaders. Under the supervision of Prof Allan Walker, she is leading a 51-month school leadership development programme (2024-2028), which is initiated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, co-created with The Education University of Hong Kong and offered in collaboration with the Centre to Support Excellence in Teaching (CSET), Stanford Graduate School of Education. The programme provides school principals and leaders with broad exposure to global trends, Mainland foresight and local best practices while also building their adaptive leadership skills to tackle ever-changing challenges in schools.
