Personal profile

Dr Ewan Wright is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education and Human Development at The Education University of Hong Kong. He currently serves as Associate Head (Research) in the Department of Education Policy and Leadership, and as Associate Programme Leader for the Executive Master of Arts in International Educational Leadership and Change, following six years as Programme Leader. In addition, he is a Fellow at both the Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change, and the Centre for Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies.

 

Dr Wright obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong. His research interests centre on international education, international student mobility, cosmopolitanism, and social class. He has led research projects funded by organisations such as the International Baccalaureate, Round Square, the Public Policy Research Funding Scheme of Hong Kong, and the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong.

 

Currently, Dr Wright is leading a mixed-methods project examining Hong Kong as a destination for mobile doctoral students. This research aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the motivations behind students’ decisions to pursue PhD studies in Hong Kong, their experiences during their doctoral journey, and their career pathways and mobility after graduation.
