Dr. Gary Chow has been a distinguished member of the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK, formerly known as the Hong Kong Institute of Education) since 2007, bringing a wealth of experience from various departments to his role in the Department of Health and Physical Education. Over the years, he has emerged as a leading figure in the field of physical education in Hong Kong, consistently driving advancements and making significant contributions to the discipline. Dr. Chow is deeply engaged with the physical education community, sharing his unique insights and fostering progress in an ever-evolving educational landscape. His commitment to sharing expertise and innovative ideas on learning and teaching has made him a respected and influential educator.


In November 2023, Dr. Chow was invited to present at the collaborative learning and teaching seminar titled "Adapting Authentic Assessment for Diverse Disciplines and Enhanced Learning Outcomes," jointly organized by EdUHK and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). During the seminar, he shared his transformative journey, emphasizing the integration of AI technology, particularly speech-to-text, to revolutionize authentic assessment and micro-teaching practices in physical education. This innovative approach has empowered students, promoted collaboration, and significantly improved learning outcomes.


Dr. Chow’s exceptional teaching and dedication to promoting innovative and effective practices have earned him widespread recognition. In the 2020/21 academic year, he was honored with the FLASS Teaching Award. Additionally, he was appointed to the Assessment Panel on Physical Education Key Learning Area and the Assessment Working Group (AWG) for the Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence (CEATE) in the 2021/22 academic year, further cementing his reputation as an expert in the field.


As a researcher, Dr. Chow has explored a wide range of topics, including postural control, performance analysis, sports training, and recovery. Recently, he has focused on leveraging technology in sports and physical education to address community needs. In the 2020/21 academic year, he was awarded the Early Career Scheme (ECS) Project Grant by the Research Grants Council (RGC) to support his study on remote exercise at home. In 2023/24, he secured his first General Research Fund (GRF) project from the RGC, which investigates the process of learning to cycle through a balance bike from the perspective of postural control. These grants highlight the excellence of his research and underscore the importance of competitive funding in advancing his academic contributions.


In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Chow serves as the Associate Head of the Department of Health and Physical Education at EdUHK, overseeing learning and teaching initiatives. He also holds key roles in various academic and curriculum organizations, including serving as a school manager for primary schools, an executive committee member of academic organizations, and a member of the Curriculum Development Council. These positions allow him to apply his research findings to address practical societal needs in areas such as sports organizations, curriculum development, and physical education teaching. Through his innovative research, exceptional teaching, and leadership, Dr. Gary Chow continues to collaborate with professionals across different sectors to drive the development of the sports and physical education industry, leaving a lasting impact on the field."


周志清博士自2007年起加入香港教育大學(前身為香港教育學院),並在健康與體育學系擔任重要角色,為該系帶來了豐富的跨部門經驗。多年來,他成為香港體育教育領域的關鍵知識領袖,持續推動學科的發展並作出重要貢獻。周博士積極參與體育教育社群,分享獨到見解,並在不斷變化的教育環境中促進進步。他致力於與他人分享其專業知識及創新教學理念,深受業界尊重。


2023年11月,周博士獲邀出席由香港教育大學與香港浸會大學聯合舉辦的「跨學科真實評估與提升學習成效」協作教學研討會。在研討會上,他分享了自己的轉型歷程,重點介紹了如何運用人工智能技術,特別是語音轉文字技術,革新體育教育中的真實評估與微格教學實踐。這一創新方法不僅賦能學生,促進協作,更顯著提升了學習成效。
