Dr. Gary Chow joined the Department of Health and Physical Education in 2016, bringing extensive experience from other departments at the Education University of Hong Kong. He has established himself as a key knowledge leader in the field of physical education in Hong Kong, consistently making significant contributions to advancements in the field. Dr. Chow actively engages with the physical education community, sharing unique insights and driving progress in an ever-evolving educational landscape. He is highly dedicated to sharing his experience and thoughts on learning and teaching with others.

In November 2023, Dr. Chow was invited to present at the collaborative learning and teaching seminar titled "Adapting Authentic Assessment for Diverse Disciplines and Enhanced Learning Outcomes," which brought together EdUHK and HKBU. During the seminar, he presented his transformative journey, highlighting the integration of AI technology, specifically speech-to-text, to revolutionize authentic assessment and micro-teaching practices in the field of Physical Education. This innovative approach empowered students, fostering collaboration and significantly enhancing learning outcomes.

Dr. Chow's outstanding teaching and commitment to disseminating innovative and effective teaching practices have been recognized through various accolades. In the 2020/21 academic year, he received the FLASS Teaching Awards. Moreover, he was appointed to the Assessment Panel on Physical Education Key Learning Area and the Assessment Working Group (AWG) for the Chief Executive's Award for Teaching Excellence (CEATE) in the 2021/2022 academic year, further acknowledging his expertise and dedication.

As a researcher, Dr. Gary Chow has covered diverse areas within the field, including postural control, performance analysis, sports training, and recovery. Recently, he has focused on utilizing technology in sports and physical education, addressing community concerns through his research. In the 2020/21 academic year, Dr. Chow was awarded the Early Career Scheme (ECS) Project Grant by the Research Grants Council (RGC), supporting his study on remote exercise at home. In 2023/24, he secured support from the RGC again for his first General Research Fund (GRF) project, which explores the process of learning to cycle through a balance bike from the perspective of postural control. These grants illustrate the excellence of his research and emphasize the significance of competitive funding in supporting Dr. Chow's ongoing academic development.
