Alice Chow is Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences. She has joined the Department since 2010 as Post-doctoral Fellow. She received her Master in China Area Studies and PhD in Geography from the University of Hong Kong in 2002 and 2010 respectively. Current research areas are urban form and travel studies; excess commuting; sustainable transport development (e.g. transit-oriented development); climate change and aviation policy. A new research direction is to study the influence of transport and telecommunication networks on international higher education. She has published several papers in top-ranked international journals including Urban Studies, Journal of Transport Geography and International Journal of Sustainable Transportation. Major teaching areas include sustainable development and policy, environmental studies and community studies.
